This auction is for a superb hardback edition entitled “Becoming and Being,” subtitled “The Doctrine of God in Charles Hartshorne and Karl Barth,” by Colin E. Gunton.
It was published by Oxford University Press, of Oxford, in 1980.
This fascinating book presents an analysis and comparison of two influential modern approaches to the doctrine of God. Although they are in many respects diametrically opposed, the one finding its basis in biblical revelation and steeped in the tradition of trinitarian reflection, the other relying on pure speculative reason, there are numerous and surprising points of contact.

The book measures 8.75 inches x 5.5 inches.
The 236 pages are nice and neat. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages.
There are NO inscriptions and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book.
The original hardback cover is in very good condition for its age, and is clean, having been largely protected by the dust-jacket. The illustrated dust-jacket is very good for its age, with minor wear, is a little grubby and has not been price-clipped. The gold on the spine is very good.
