This auction is for a superb large size vintage hardback FIRST EDITION (First impression of the First Edition) entitled “All Made by Hand,” by James Arnold, lavishly illustrated with SIXTY-SEVEN wonderful vintage illustrations by the author. It was published by John Baker, of London, in 1970, and is the FIRST EDITION (stated). This book contains a wealth of information on numerous country crafts including charcoal burning, blacksmithing, hand-loom weaving, saddlery, thatching, lace making, quilting, hedge laying, coopering, flint knapper and more. The contents include: · Forestry · The Hurdle-Makers · The Blacksmiths · The Wheelwright · The Hand-Loom Weaver · The Turner · The Thatcher · The Hedge-Layer · The Coracle Man · Corn-dollies … and more … The book measures 10 inches 7.25 inches. The 135 pages are nice and neat and a little faded with age, with very light foxing near the rims. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages. The book is a former vintage library book with the usual stamps and stickers to the end papers. The original cloth hardback cover is in very good condition for its age, with minor wear and is clean, having been largely protected by the dust-jacket. The illustrated dust-jacket is very good for its age, with minor wear, is a little faded, and has been price-clipped. The silver on the spine of the book is very good.
