This auction is for a superb hardback FIRST EDITION (First impression of the First Edition) entitled “Pests, Diseases and Disorders of Garden Plants,” subtitled “Collins Shorter Guide,” by Stefan Buczacki and Keith Harris, illustrated with TWENTY-FOUR wonderful FULL-PAGE COLOUR plates each packed with numerous colour illustrations by Brian Hargreaves.
It was published by Collins, of Grafton Street, London, in 1983, and is the FIRST EDITION (stated).
This book is designed so that gardeners can quickly identify and treat the ailments that are most likely to affect their plants. This edition is clearly arranged, prescribes the most practical and easily available remedies, and contains a mine of information and advice for gardening tasks at all times of the year. I include a couple of extra photos showing two samples of the plates (each plate has a similar number of illustrations).
The book measures 8.75 inches x 5.75 inches.
The 319 pages are nice and neat. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages.
There are NO inscriptions and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book.
The original hardback cover is in very good condition for its age, having been largely protected by the dust-jacket. The illustrated dust jacket is in good condition for its age, with minor wear, is grubby/faded and has not been price-clipped. The gold on the spine is very good.
A wonderfully illustrated FIRST EDITION – the starting price is just ONE PENNY, with NO RESERVE, and I WILL SELL to the highest bidder.
