This auction is for a superb vintage hardback FIRST EDITION (First impression of the First Edition) entitled “Unpopular Opinions,” by Dorothy L. Sayers.
It was published by Victor Gollancz Ltd., of London, in 1946, and is the FIRST EDITION.
Dorothy Leigh Sayers (1893-1957) was a British author, playwright, essayist, translator, student of classical and modern languages, and Christian humanist. She is best known for her mysteries, a series of novels and short stories set between the First and Second World Wars that featured the amateur detective and English aristocrat Lord Peter Wimsey. She however, considered her translation of Dante's Divine Comedy to be her best work.
This fascinating book contains several essays on Theology, Politics and general criticism, including four essays on Sherlock Holmes.

The book measures 8 inches 5.25 inches.
The 190 pages are nice and neat and a little faded with age, with foxing near the covers/rims. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages.
There are NO inscriptions and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book.
The original cloth hardback cover is in very good condition for its age, with minor wear/bumps and is a little faded. The gold on the spine is dull but good.
