This auction is for a superb vintage hardback edition entitled “Tales of Mystery and Imagination,” by Edgar Allan Poe.
It was published by Grant Richards, of Leicester Square, London, as part of the wonderful The World Classics series in 1902 (FIRST PRINTING in this form).
Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was an American short-story writer, poet, and literary critic, and was part of the Romantic Movement. Although he is best remembered for his tales of mystery and horror, he was one of the earliest American writers of the short story and is considered the inventor of the detective-fiction genre. He is further credited with contributing to the emergence of science fiction.

The book measures 6.25 inches x 4 inches.
The 367 pages are nice and neat with foxing near the covers/rims. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages (t binding is slightly exposed in the gutter at the hinge inside the rear cover but all is secure).
There are NO inscriptions and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book.
The original cloth hardback cover is in very good condition for its age, with minor wear and is a little blemished. The gold on the spine is very good for its age.
A wonderful vintage edition – the starting price is just ONE PENNY, with NO RESERVE, and I WILL SELL to the highest bidder.
