Over sized "coffee-table" book of stunning full color and black and white photographs taken across the United States. It has 230 pages and weighs over 6 pounds.
Published in 1975. Approximatedly 11" wide and 15" tall. The dust jacket has a few small inkspots on the front and a few scratches on the back. The book itself is pristine. There is a reference map in the back, showing the locations the photographs were taken.
Author/Photographer is Yoshikazu Shirakawa
Foreword by William O. Douglas
Essay by Sigurd F. Olson
From the inside cover:
In a way never before attempted, the vastness of the American continent has been rediscovered and is presented in this book by one of the world's great photographers. With an uncompromising eye, he records on film the majesty and grandeur of nature. He also captures its subtle nuances and varied moods and draws our attention to the forces that are continually reshaping our planet. Although the image that evolves is abstract, almost macrocosmic, there is an extraordinary retention of minute details.
