This auction is for a superb vintage hardback FIRST EDITION (First impression of the First Edition) entitled “The Disciple and His Devil,” by Valerie Pascal, with TWENTY-FOUR wonderful vintage photographic illustrations.
It was published by Michael Joseph, of London, in 1971, and is the FIRST BRITISH EDITION.
The ''devil'' of the title is Bernard Shaw. Valerie Pascal's husband, Gabriel Pascal (1894–1954) was a Hungarian film producer and director, and the first film producer to bring the plays of George Bernard Shaw successfully to the screen.
The book measures 8.75 inches 5.75 inches x 1.25 inches.
The 319 pages are nice and neat. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages.
There are NO inscriptions and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book.
The original cloth hardback cover is in very good condition for its age and is clean, having been largely protected by the dust-jacket. The illustrated dust-jacket is very good for its age, with minor wear, is a little grubby/faded, and has not been price-clipped. The gold on the spine of the book is very good.
A wonderful vintage FIRST EDITION – the starting price is just ONE PENNY, with NO RESERVE, and I WILL SELL to the highest bidder.
