Heidi by Johanna Spyri (HC 1945) You are bidding on an Illustrate Junior Library edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri. Translated by Helen B. Dole. Illustrated by William Sharp. Published by Grosset Dunlap, Inc. Copyright in 1945, this edition. 326 pages. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This book is in good to very good condition. There are no marked or torn pages. A few pages toward the end of the book were dog-eared from another book shoved in the storage box. Binding is still tight. Missing the outer dust cover. (If there was one). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Book Grading Pristine (P): Unopened and undamaged, in perfect condition. Unread. Very Fine (VF): Same condition as when it was published. Crisp! No defects. No tears in dust jacket (if issued with one). Fine (F): Almost the same as the condition of Very Fine but without being crisp. Still no defects etc. This is the highest grade for antiquarian books. Very Good (VG): Shows some small signs of wear, but not tears, on either binding or paper. Light soiling of pages or scuffing of dust jacket. This is the most common grade for a collectible copy. Good (G): An average used, worn book that has all pages or leaves present. Reading Copy (RC): worn book that has complete text pages but may be missing maps or plates, end papers, half-title, etc. Discarded library editions, book club editions etc. Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. Other Common Descriptions Remainder Mark (Rem): Usually an ink marking made by the publisher or book dealer on the top or bottom of leaves. Indicates the book was originally not sold at a retail store. It is a remainder that is sold in after-markets. Advance Review Copy (ARC): The ARC is a special edition of a new book sent to bookstores and reviewers by publishers. It is usually in soft cover bindings with a draft dust cover, sometimes called a wrap. Produced before the First Edition. Inscribed (Inscribed): An inscribed book contains either a note from someone to another, as a gift, or simply the former owner etc. Price Clipped (PC): Usually indicates that an inside corner of the dust jacket (where the price would appear) has been cut off. It could also mean someone cut the portion to hide that it was a book club edition. Book Club Edition (BCE): Published and sold through a book club like Doubleday or Book of the Month Club. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I do eBay auctions for fun and entertainment.
