This auction is for a superb vintage hardback FIRST EDITION (First impression of the First Edition) entitled “Between Man and Man,” by Jewish theologian and philosopher Martin Buber (1878-1965), translated into English by Ronald Gregor Smith.
It was published by Kegan Paul, of London, in 1947, and is the FIRST EDITION in this English translation.
Scholar, theologian and philosopher, Martin Buber is one of the twentieth century's most influential thinkers. He believed that the deepest reality of human life lies in the relationship between one being and another.
Professor Buber was influenced by Immanuel Kant, Søren Kierkegaard, and Friedrich Nietzsche.
This book is the classic work where he puts this belief into practice, applying it to the concrete problems of contemporary society. Here he tackles various subjects challenging each of us to reassess our encounter with the world that surrounds us, including some of his most famous writings, such as the masterful “What is Man?”
