This auction is for a superb vintage hardback edition entitled “From the Life,” by Phyllis Bottome.
It was published by Faber Faber Limited, of Russell Square, London, in MCMXLIV (1944).
This book contains studies of six persons who were known to the public for their special contributions to art, religion and science.
The contents include:
· Alfred Adler
· Max Beerbohm
· The Secret of Ivor Novello
· Sara Delano Roosevelt
· Ezra Pound
· Margaret MacDonald Bottome
The book measures 8.25 inches x 5.5 inches.
The 100 pages are nice and neat and a little faded with age, with light foxing near the covers/rims. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages.
There are NO inscriptions and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book.
The original cloth hardback cover is in good condition for its age, with minor wear/bumps and is a little grubby/faded, having been largely protected by the (now torn/tatty) dust-jacket. The gold on the spine is very good.
A fascinating vintage edition – the starting price is just ONE PENNY, with NO RESERVE, and I WILL SELL to the highest bidder.
