1. THE COUNTRY DIARY OF A CHESHIRE MAN - by A.W. Boyd -- The author, who is 'cheshire born and cheshire bred' and whose chief interests have always been in natural history in the field and in country affairs generally, began to keep a country diary at the age of nine. He had no thought of publishing more than occasional notes in natural history journals, until, on the death of Mr T.A. Coward, whose friend and disciple he had been for a quarter of a century, it was suggested that he should contribute to the Manchester Guardian a weekly country diary such as T.A.C. had written so successfully for many years.
The contects of the book are mainly a selection from these notes, in which readers will find not only a faithful records of country events and wild life in Cheshire through the seasons, but also see reflected the author's affection for his native county and his rural friends and neighbors.
illustrated with 15 pages of photographs of cheshire and natural history subjects.
