This auction is for a superb MID VICTORIAN hardback edition entitled “The Poetical Works of William Wordsworth,” subtitled “With Life,” illustrated with EIGHT wonderful fine steel engravings.
It was published by Gall Inglis, of Edinburgh, in or before 1862 (date of inscription).
William Wordsworth (1770-1850), was a major English romantic poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped launch the Romantic Age in English literature.

The book measures 6.5 inches x 4.5 inches.
The 522 pages are gilt-edged to all rims, are neat with the odd minor grubby mark/blemish. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages. Apart from a previous owner’s 1862 gift inscription at the front, there are no other ink or pencil markings in the book.
The original decorative embossed cloth hardback cover is in good condition for its age, with minor wear/bumps. The gold on the front board is very good, and is still reasonably good on the faded spine.
A wonderfully illustrated MID VICTORIAN edition – the starting price is just ONE PENNY, with NO RESERVE, and I WILL SELL to the highest bidder.
