This listing offers a Washington SOCKEYE SALMON FISH LADDER Art Booklet 1978. This publication, "The Lake Washington Ship Canal Fish Ladder", was produced by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Seattle District) in 1978. This colorful brochure (GPO 1983 696-705) folds open to measure 16" wide by 17" high. One side includes three (3) large colorful illustrations of The Lake Washington Ship Canal Fish Ladder, where visitors can be spectators (almost in downtown Seattle) to a part of one of nature's marvels - fish that obey a biological command to return to spawn in streams where they began their life cycle... salmon and trout headed for rivers and streams within the Lake Washington watershed. These fish use the locks, called the "fish ladder". The detailed drawings show the components of the fish ladder, and include a map of the area. The other side of the brochure includes illustrations of some of the fish which use the ladder, including Salmon (Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye) and Trout (Steelhead and Cutthroat). Also included on the reverse side is a "Life Cycle Chart", with very nice artwork detailing the birth and migration of these fish. NOTE: Portions from each side of the brochure are included in the scan. This vintage U.S. Army Corps of Engineers publication is clean and in very good condition.
